We all have our own unique voice, and when our voices collaborate on issues of mutual importance, they present in beautiful harmony, resonating with others and perhaps acting as the initiative to inspire positive change.
At WEModel USA, we have a purpose to enrich the lives of our clients, but outside of that professional endeavor, we also have a mission to enrich the lives of those with whom we share the world. One issue of extreme importance to us is Human Trafficking and the fight to end this form of modern-day slavery. While it may seem like such a monumental task to even make the slightest impact as an individual, as a collective group, we can put the necessary forces in motion to courageously stand up against human trafficking.
As our role in the solution to this problem, WEModel is promoting Runway Models with a Voice, giving the models we support and promote through various events throughout the year, a platform through which their voices can be heard as they bravely speak up and bring heightened awareness to and raise money for anti-trafficking efforts.
We realize that such a huge challenge requires overcoming great odds and hurdles. It’s not just about shouting from the rooftops or carrying signs to show our opposition. It is about understanding the myths and the realities that are associated with Human Trafficking. The Internet is flooded with information about this issue, some of it accurate, and some of it grossly misleading.
As an issue that affects all parts of the world – even the United States of America – it is nearly impossible to grasp the magnitude of its impact, and before we can even suggest tackling the issue, we have to come face-to-face with the facts. They won’t be easy to hear. They won’t be easy to overcome. They won’t be easy to navigate. They won’t be easy to eliminate. We hope they will, however, eventually succumb to even greater powers that seek to destroy 21st century slavery that presents in many forms: prostitution, slavery, organ trade, forced labor and more.
As simple as this blog might be, we hope it takes the stumbling blocks of challenge and turns them over into the stepping stones of change.
